How to use the hosting platforms

In this episode, I'll explain how to effectively use podcast hosting platforms. Before we dive in, I recommend checking out my previous episode that covers what hosting platforms are and why we need them.

Once you've chosen your preferred hosting platform, whether free or subscription-based, and have your podcast ready to go, it's time to understand how to use the platform to reach your audience.

Step 1: Prepare Everything in Advance

To ensure a smooth uploading process, gather all your necessary files in one place. I find it helpful to have a dedicated folder on the desktop. Gather your artwork in the correct format, save your audio as an MP3 or WAV file, and have your show notes readily available for easy copy-pasting.

This organisation prevents the frustration of missing or incompatible files and facilitates future repurposing of your podcast content.

Step 2: Allow Sufficient Time for Upload

Time management is crucial when uploading your show. Allocate ample time, particularly for the initial upload and creation of your podcast page. This involves adding your artwork, creating a trailer, and providing details about your podcast. Rushing this process is not recommended.

I suggest completing your trailer and page at least two weeks before the intended release of your episode. Keep in mind that the RSS feed may take a few minutes to update the directories, so be patient if you don't see immediate results. It's likely just a matter of time.
